And now The Chris Evans Special is on the menu at Mill Road curry house
A Cambridge Indian restaurant has been attracting bookings from far and wide after its owner appeared on BBC Radio Two’s Chris Evans Show.
Kobir Ahmed visited the studio on August 20 to talk about English Curry Week and the forthcoming English Curry Awards.
Mr Ahmed, owner of Prana Restaurant in Mill Road, said they also discussed the merits of the dishes he had prepared for the DJ, who is a well-known curry fan.
He said: “Chris had one complaint about curry restaurants in general. He felt that, unlike other types of restaurants, we didn’t offer a weekly special dish. He reckons that would boost our trade. I have to agree with him. Now that he has pointed this out, and in recognition of his input, I have decided to create a weekly special which will be known as ‘The Chris Evans Special’.”
The radio appearance saw Prana’s bookings rocket.
“Normally before 10am on a Monday we expect to receive two or three online reservations,” Mr Ahmed said. “But after the show ended we had 60 in the space of half an hour. And the bookings have continued to come, some from as far away as Birmingham and Manchester.”
Chris Evans announced this week that he is leaving Radio Two to return to his spiritual home, Virgin Radio.
